Elliot Park, Downtown West and Cedar-Riverside neighborhoods are only a stone throw away from the Downtown East.

Although Marcy-Holmes neighborhood lies on the other side of the Mississippi River, no roads connect the two neighborhoods. However, the Stone Arch Bridge has pedestrian and biking paths connecting to the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood.

The MLB baseball Minnesota twins, Minnesota Gophers and Vikings played their home games at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Downtown East neighborhood. The Mill District, Mill Ruins Park, Mill City Museum, Target Field, Bank Stadium and the Guthrie Theater are housed in the Downtown East neighborhood.

Also known as the North Loop, the Warehouse District neighborhood is located in the heart of Minneapolis. Previously a shipping hub, the neighborhood is home to the Minneapolis Warehouse Historic District. It lies between the Mississippi River and downtown Minneapolis, with central business district and the Hennepin Avenue bordering it to the south east.

The neighborhood is renowned for its paths that run parallel to the Mississippi River. Washington, Plymouth and Hennepin avenues and the 4th Street Freeway offer access to the neighborhood and its environs.  Despite its industrial past and old warehouses and factories, the Warehouse District is home to apartments and loft condominiums.

Popular with people working in the downtown area, the neighborhood has restaurants, theaters, a temporary dog park, coffee shops, art galleries, bars, retail stores and various attraction sites.

  1. Nicollet Island

Also known as East Bank, Nicollet Island is also one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Minneapolis. It is part of the University community and lies between Downtown and the Mississippi River. The neighborhood is home to East Hennepin Avenue, Central Avenue and NE 2nd Avenue. You’ll find condominiums and shopping complexes in this neighborhood.

Whereas neighborhoods to the east of Minneapolis are mostly expensive, those on the western side of the city are more affordable.
